life after the altar

So I’m married! Now what? March 12, 2008

Welcome to The Helpless Housewife! I created this blog to journal some of my experiences as a new housewife ;) I’m a 26 year old college graduate and currently attending pharmacy school in Virginia. I consider myself reasonably intelligent and fairly creative. But when it comes to “housewifey” things, I’m at a total loss! I have no housekeeping tips or tricks, I can’t stand dishes (ew smelly, discolored water!) and I have zero organizational technique. (I’ve always envied people with color coordinated dividers that are properly labeled and neatly organized drawers.) I pretty much can’t cook. I don’t think I’ve ever cleaned a toilet so I don’t even know what to say about that. I’m pretty bad at all things related to being neat, clean and organized!

But my goal is to LEARN!

I’ll *attempt* to post here daily with general tips I dig up from friends, family or Martha Stewart Living. ;) HA! I’ll share personal stuff, housewifey activities and domestic pointers! I want to focus on cooking, cleaning, design/decor and organization. Hopefully this will help all you newlyweds who don’t know the difference between a steak knife and a bread knife make some sense of this whole married things!

Mr. and Mrs. Thomason

DISCLAIMER: I am by no means just a “housewife” and I view this term LOVINGLY ;) My husband cooks more than I do and we both clean about the same amount, which is close to never! Since I’m in school full time and he works full time we are BOTH learning how to manage a house, a puppy and our lives together as old married folks! This blog is for anyone who wants to learn how to deal with “life stuff” in general!

Congratulations and good luck to you!

I’m male, learnt to cook when I was 45, prior to that only knew how to eat and couldn’t even shop for produce.

Just started my website, food and recipes from around the world with an emphasis on easy to cook meals good for working people on weeknights. I keep it really simple because I want to encourage people to learn to cook early and not wait till 45 like me!

Have fun in the kitchen. I do.

    O hai!

I’ll be following your blog! We’re in the process of planning our wedding for 2010, the guy and I have lived together for about a year now, and I’m a pharmacy student as well (in Buffalo)! Nice to meet ya!

Livejournal for me, no real blog, but you’re welcome to follow along. http://livejournal.com/users/_erin
